Destiny Trial and Demo FAQ [Update 9/2/15]
Note: Players on PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 will lose access to the Destiny Demo starting 9/3/15.
A new version of the Demo will be available for download at a later date.

Beginning November 18th, 2014, players will be able to try Destiny for free via Trial or Demo. Both experiences offer a sampling of character creation and progression, story mission content, along with cooperative and social activities.

The Destiny Trial is available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Destiny Demo is available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

What does the Destiny Trial include?
•Character creation and progression to Level 7, which carries over to the full version of the game should you decide to purchase a retail copy of Destiny
•Five Story Missions set in Old Russia
•Access to the Tower and multiple Tower vendors
•“The Devil's Lair” 3-player cooperative Strike

How do I obtain the Destiny Trial or Demo?
The Destiny Trial and Demo are available for digital download. You can find these trial and demo modes on the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store. You can also find additional download information here.

Note: The Xbox One Destiny Trial is only available on the Xbox One console dashboard.

How much disk space is required?
The Destiny Trial and Demo software is approximately the same size as the full retail version of Destiny. See below for approximate download sizes.

The Destiny Trial on PlayStation 4 requires up to 40 GB of disk space
The Destiny Trial on Xbox One requires up to 40 GB of disk space
The Destiny Demo on PlayStation 3 requires up to 6 GB of disk space
The Destiny Demo on Xbox 360 requires up to 6 GB of disk space

NOTE: An internal Hard Drive is required to participate in the Destiny Demo, Trial or Retail game.  External storage devices (such as USB flash drives) are not supported. Download sizes may change.

When I’m ready to buy the full game, will my character progression be transferred?
Yes, assuming you purchase the full retail copy of Destiny on the same console platform family you played the Destiny Trial or Demo on. For example, you may not transfer your progress from the Destiny Demo on Xbox 360 to the full retail version of Destiny on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3.

Progress is always shared automatically within the same console family on the Destiny servers. No action on your part is required.

How do I upgrade to the full game?
The Destiny Trial on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can be upgraded via the in game menu. You will not be required to download the full retail game or purchase a disc. If you encounter an issue where the full game is not showing up, you may need to restore your licenses

To get the full version of Destiny on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, purchase Destiny from your local retailer, the Xbox Store, or the PlayStation Store. Once you have launched the full version of Destiny, and confirmed that your existing character progression can be selected, you may delete the Destiny Demo file, as you will no longer require it.
